How To Perform

SunFest and 1909 invite you to an ‘audition’ to join SunFest 2022 as part of the Fresh Local Artist (FLA) Series featuring the best musical talent South Florida has to offer.

The deadline to apply is Friday December 10th, 2021. But please don’t wait until the last minute!! Applications are reviewed as they come in. When there is too much of a last-minute crush there’s a chance you won’t get all the attention you deserve.

Two important notes:

  • This is the ONLY way that applications to play will be accepted.
  • We reserve the right to extend both application and notification deadlines. The world is rebooting, and plans may have to shift a bit here and there.

  • DO WE HAVE TO BE ‘LOCAL” TO APPLY?

    Not really. We’re certainly trying to showcase the musicians that are from Palm Beach County and South Florida but know that talent is the most important criteria.

  • WHY DO WE HAVE TO PICK A GENRE IN THE APPLICATION?

    Bands that perform on the main stages are generally opening for a headline act. They are both subject to the approval of that headliner and usually need to be of the same general music type. 

  • IF WE DO GET PICKED WHAT ABOUT….?

    The specifics of the offer to play at SunFest (including day, stage, time, pay, access, etc.) will be communicated to those selected individually.

  • WHO SELECTS WHAT BANDS WILL PERFORM?

    Volunteers from the SunFest Entertainment Committee and 1909 will work together to review the applications and extend offers to the groups that are selected.

  • WHEN WILL I HEAR IF WE HAVE BEEN CHOSEN?

    Acts that have been selected will be contacted individually sometime after December 10th. All applicants will be notified of their status no later than Friday January 7th 2022.

  • HOW MANY ACTS ARE CHOSEN?

    This number varies between 8-12 each year according to the preferences of the headline talent. There are also tentative plans for a new FLA (Fresh Local Artists) stage and – if that does happen – the number of spots available will increase.

  • WHERE AND WHEN MIGHT WE BE PERFORMING?

    Performances are scheduled based upon a variety of factors and could be on any festival stage and date.
